Movado Caliber 157 Watch movement spare parts
Movado Caliber 157 Watch Movement Spare Parts
The Movado Caliber 157 is a vintage watch movement reference of interest to collectors, restorers, and hobbyist watchmakers. When servicing a watch fitted with this calibre, selecting compatible spare parts and inspecting the existing components carefully are essential for preserving the movement’s original functionality.
Common Spare Parts to Look For
– Balance wheel and balance staff: Essential components of the regulating system. Check for a damaged staff, worn pivots, or a distorted balance spring.
– Balance cock: Supports the balance assembly and its upper pivot. Ensure the replacement matches the movement’s configuration.
– Mainspring: Supplies the power that drives the movement. A worn or set mainspring can contribute to poor amplitude and unreliable running.
– Barrel and barrel arbor: Inspect for wear, damage, or problems with the mainspring’s attachment points.
– Gear train wheels: Examine the center, third, fourth, and escape wheels for damaged teeth, bent pivots, and wear.
– Pallet fork and escape wheel: These parts control the release of power through the escapement and must be compatible with the calibre.
– Winding and setting components: The crown wheel, winding pinion, setting lever, and related parts may require replacement if winding or hand-setting becomes difficult.
– Jewels, screws, and springs: Small components can be lost or damaged during disassembly, so careful identification is important.
