History
Introduced in the 1970s by ETA (part of Swatch Group), the original ETA 2892 evolved from earlier calibers like the 2890, addressing winding efficiency issues during the quartz crisis. The upgraded 2892-A2 variant arrived around 1996, shrinking from 28mm to 25.6mm diameter while boosting rotor mass for better performance. Production continued until 2021 for non-Swatch brands, cementing its legacy in high-end timepieces.
