Movado Caliber 48 Watch movement spare parts
Movado Caliber 48 Watch Movement Spare Parts
The Movado Caliber 48 is a vintage watch movement of interest to collectors, restorers, and hobbyist watchmakers. When restoring a watch fitted with this calibre, selecting compatible spare parts is essential for maintaining reliable operation and preserving the originality of the timepiece.
Common spare parts to look for
– Balance wheel and balance staff: Important components of the regulating system. Inspect for damage, worn pivots, and signs of imbalance.
– Balance cock: Supports the balance assembly and must match the movement’s specific configuration.
– Mainspring: Supplies the energy required to drive the movement. A suitable replacement must match the original dimensions and characteristics.
– Barrel and barrel arbor: Check for wear, damage, and problems with the mainspring seating.
– Train wheels and pinions: Inspect the gear train for worn pivots, bent teeth, and excessive friction.
– Pallet fork and escape wheel: Essential escapement components that require precise compatibility.
– Setting and winding parts: The stem, winding pinion, clutch wheel, and related components may need replacement if winding or hand-setting is unreliable.
– Jewels, screws, and springs: Small components that can be difficult to source individually for older movements.
